Weagle, Weagle, War Damn Eagle

Even though Auburn has not been playing well, I still had fun at Auburn this weekend. It was great to see old college friends and visit the campus. The campus has changed so much over the last 4 years! There are so many new buildings now, I think I could get lost!! I just went for the day, and let me tell ya, it's a good drive to there from here! I rolled in this morning a little after 4! I haven't left my apartment all day...I haven't even got out of my pajamas!! It was so cold up there too! It was so nice to get into my truck, turn on the seat warmers and heat and just drive and drive and drive...there are some dark country roads in Georgia! I was so pumped up about getting home, to my warm house (heat wasn't on, but warmer than outside), and to my warm bed. However, when I opened my door to my apartment, I found that it was just a cold inside as it was outside! Before I left for the game, I opened my balcony door to get some fresh air in and to see how cold it was outside...yeah, I forgot to close it! It was open all day and practically all night!! Thank goodness the screen door was closed or else I might have had some creatures in here!!!

Get the Lead Out!

Well, today I solved the mystery of "Where did I get fleas from?" I figured it out which house it was because it was the house I had to go back to today!!! There I was, minding my own business, testing some paint for lead. I was testing the mantle and door frames and my co-worker was testing the ceiling paint. Of course, it was positive because the house is old, and the lovely picture today shows my testers...nothing fancy, you can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. Personally, I don't like to use them because they can give you a false negative. Anyway, we got back in the truck, and one was on my hand. Then one was on his arm, then I had a few more on my legs, and he had more on his arms. I was steadily getting them and letting them go out the window since they are so hard to kill by smashing! We guess that it was from walking through the yard. We finally get back to work and he has to spray me down in the parking lot! It was ridiculous! Once again, I had to come straight in and take a shower and wash clothes.
Other than that, nothing real exciting happened today. I am headed to Auburn tomorrow for the game, so WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!!

No touching! It's flu season!

This week is flying by and I can't believe November is already around the corner! If only it would get cooler and stop raining!! I am trying to remember what I did on Monday, but I am drawing a blank. Tuesday, I had a meeting at ten and I had 6 cases to present as well as 1 old business item to add to the agenda. It was a rather long meeting! I can't help but let my mind wonder while I am not having to speak at the podium. However, two things kept drawing me in. I think that it is funny, but yet sad at the same time, that a board can let people ramble so much that it ends up confusing those that are voting! These applicants know exactly what they are doing when they talk in circles. As my grandfather says "they circle that airport, but they never do land!" They continue to talk in so many different directions that the board thinks that they are following, but they are not. The are so confused that their motions to approve are so long, it takes the whole board to create the motion! They can't stay focused and none of them follow Roberts Rules of Order correctly either. Granted, I am no expert at RRO, but while in FFA in middle school, I was on the parliamentary procedure team and we did go to state...I'm just saying! The other thing that annoyed me it this guy showed up for his case and proudly announces that this is his first day out of the house since he got the flu, but not to worry because his fever is gone. This makes me sick to my stomach. Knock on wood, I have never had the flu. My immune system is awesome. Other than a sinus infection, I have never been sick. He can barely speak so he does not stay at the podium, but moves up to the dias where the members can hear him. He stays there for about 25 minutes, taking time out to cough into his elbow about every 5 minutes. The good thing is, he does have hand sanitizer, and uses it often. Well, after he is finished, I get up to the podium and start the next case. I am talking and reading my report to the board (keep in mind this is a public meeting) and here he comes...I see him coming toward me out of the corner of my eyes. Because my facial expressions give away what I am thinking, I keep my head down, keep reading my report, and slowly start backing away from the podium. I AM STILL READING when he squirts a huge glob of his hand sanitizer into his hands and proceeds to rub down the podium with it! I was at a loss! I just kept reading, never missing a beat, but stay a good distance from the now flu-infected-but-hand-sanitized-clean podium! Nasty! Anyway, I went to the Boys and Girls Club as well on Tuesday and did my tutoring. When I stepped into the room, there were three little girls sitting on the floor. I asked the one closest to me if she needed help. Well, before she could answer the girl next to her said "Oh no, she don't need any help! She just doin' definitions!" So after they stopped talking back and forth, I went on to the 5th graders and helped with history...a much better subject for me! The creation of the American railway system...oh boy!

Shout Out to Shawty!

This weekend, I traveled a total of ten hours, to Birmingham, to see my best friend, Courtney. AKA, Shawty...even my mom calls her Shawty....she's only about 5'2", that's how she earned her name. We became very good friends my first year of Auburn. We both really don't remember how we became such good friends, it just kinda happend. We have been through lots together...right down to getting in trouble with the campus police on the way to our HDFS class! We decided to jay walk...right in front of the police car...not a good idea! He even turned on the sirens and used his speaker to yell at us! It was quite embarrassing! We've spent countless hours, shopping, tailgating, talking, traveling, bumming at the beach, as well as many hours pouring our hearts out to each other. Anyway, it's been a total of about 7-8 years of friendship, and at times, it seems more like a business because we know so much about each other, we have to work at keeping our friendship. But, it's worth it! Courtney can read my mind before I say stuff, she can tell just by my looks what I am thinking and vice versa! Sometimes we even go ahead, take an initiative and do something for the other without asking, and tell each other way later...but each other's best interest was at heart. So, this one's for you Shawty...Holla!
